The head of the Executive seeks to accelerate the works of the interoceanic corridor that seeks to unite, through rail transport, the Ports of Coatzacoalcos, in Veracruz, with that of Salina Cruz, in Oaxaca, which will allow the development of an industrial park that detonates the economy of that region of the Mexican southeast.

This project seeks to convert the Isthmus of Tehuantepec as an alternative to the transfer of goods on world trade routes, an ambition that Porfirio Díaz tried to develop but had to abandon due to the impossibility of the time.

In addition, this Friday the federal president confirmed the progress in the superhighway that will allow going from the city of Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido in just two and a half hours.

López Obrador stressed that this work began 15 years ago but due to various circumstances it has not been possible to conclude, but he trusted that an agreement will soon be reached with some communities in relation to agrarian problems and before Murat concludes his mandate as governor. Last week, the Chilean government acknowledged that someone had stolen emails from its Joint Chiefs of Staff.

López Obrador spoke at his daily news conference following a report by journalist Carlos Loret de Mola that hacked files revealed previously unknown details about a serious health problem he suffered in January.

The 68-year-old president downplayed the act of hacking, saying “there is nothing that is not known.” He stated that the intrusion apparently occurred during a change in the cyber systems of the Ministry of National Defense.

Loret de Mola said that among the stolen emails were medical records about the president, including an emergency flight to the country’s capital from his ranch in January, at a time when he was suffering from severe angina and was at risk of to suffer a heart attack. It was previously unknown that this flight had taken place.

Later that month he underwent a cardiac catheterization, which was disclosed, but was said at the time to be a routine exam. López Obrador suffered a heart attack in 2013 and suffers from high blood pressure.
