According to Despegar México, the search for plane tickets increased by 285% for Huatulco, 155% for Cancun, and 159% for Puerto Vallarta.

The Hot Sale is the perfect opportunity to boost the visit of national destinations and among the favorites of Mexican travelers stands out the increase in searches for plane tickets of up to 285% for Huatulco, 155% for Cancun, 159% for Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán with 150% and Mérida with 88%, according to data from Take off Mexico.

“We have good expectations for the Hot Sale, particularly for domestic destinations. This clearly reflects the interest of travelers in taking advantage of the promotions in tourism products and services at these events, such as the great discounts of up to 60% that we are offering in beach destinations ”, explained Alejandro Calligaris, Country Manager of Despegar México exclusively for Forbes Mexico.

Likewise, Mexican travelers have shown interest in the first days of the Hot Sale in international destinations, where the most sought after are New York, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Antonio, Miami, Orlando, Dallas, Chicago, and Bogotá.

“Those that have registered the greatest growth in the interest of travelers compared to previous weeks are: Orlando, a destination that has grown by 139% driven by interest in its parks; San Antonio (111%), Chicago (95%), New York (56%) and Bogotá (120%) ”, said Calligaris.

Despite the fact that Mexican tourism fell 46% during 2020 compared to the previous year, according to the 2020 balance of the National Tourism Business Council (CNET), 2021 would be the year of recovery driven by the vaccination campaign world against Covid-19.

“If we compare the first quarter of 2021 with the same period of 2020, we see that transactions (which include all products) at the regional level decreased by 40% year-on-year. However, vs the fourth quarter of 2020 and excluding Brazil, transactions increased 12% sequentially in the first quarter. In Mexico, in fact, we observed a healthy performance, with a sequential double-digit growth in Gross Bookings ”, deepened the Country Manager of Despegar México.

Regarding the increase in the search for destinations in the United States, the Despegar executive reiterated that it has always been one of the most important international destinations for Mexicans due to the main interest they have in visiting their relatives.

“What we have seen is that the recovery of the industry will not be an always upward straight line, but there are ups and downs. We are confident that travel demand will rebound, as seen in other geographies, as global travel restrictions are lifted and the pace of Covid-19 vaccination programs accelerates, “Calligaris concluded.
